Universal Pre-Kindergarten

Suffern Central offers pre-kindergarten to all eligible four-year-olds through New York State's Universal Pre-Kindergarten program. This includes full-day (5 hours) and half-day (2.5 hours) programs. Students may attend pre-kindergarten in district schools or at approved community-based organizations. Eligible students must reside in Suffern Central and must turn four by December 1, 2024.

Enrollment in the 2024-25 Pre-Kindergarten Program is now open and will remain open through March 8. Click the links below for more details.

Once complete, our District representative will reach out to you to continue the registration process.
Children must be 4 years old by December 1, 2024 to participate in the Universal Pre-K program.

Suffern Central will host two open houses for families interested in learning more about the district program.
Thursday, March 7, 6:00 pm - Cherry Lane Elementary School
Friday, March 8, 10:00 am - Viola Elementary School
Please note, that Suffern Central will host its PreK classes at RP Connor School next year. The open houses are held in our current UPK classrooms.

Step 3
Family Meeting - March 2023
Once registration has been processed, a District representative will contact you to set up a family meeting and interview. Interviews will take place in our District offices beginning March 11 and ending by March 28.
Families must participate in these meetings in order to enter the UPK lottery.
During the meeting process, families will be asked to choose their location preferences.

Step 4
Placements - May 2024
Families will be notified of their child's placement by the end of May 2024.
It's anticipated that there will be a lottery for placements. For details regarding the lottery process, click here.
